Consciousness of Time Series
This work reflects the profound sense of overwhelm I experienced while circumnavigating Svalbard in the High Arctic as part of the Arctic Circle Artists Residency Programme. Aboard the MV Ortelius, we navigated the icy waters of the Arctic, circling the archipelago and venturing as far as 82°N, where the pack ice stretched endlessly before us. Immersed in the vast, sublime landscape, I became acutely aware of my own smallness and the insignificance of human presence in comparison to the scale of the environment. Themes of fragility, precarity, and balance emerged naturally from this encounter, as the Arctic revealed both its immense power and its environmental vulnerability.
